Overall review for the hotel:I have visited the hotel with my family for a period of 3 weeks. November - December. The hotel is overall really really nice, although I couldnt enjoy much of it, since I had online learning for all the time, and at weekends I was swimming in the sea. For the first week, I have been enjoying data (32gb) from an Orange Egypt card, distributed by one of the tour operators (BGO Operator), for around 25€ (30 USD). Our whole family was connected to the 4G network, and we managed to consume 32GB data in 1 week (6-7 devices - phones, computers, tablets). The mobile signals were available only after a change of the room to a higher elevated one, with a view to the neighboring Makadi Spa Hotel. Nor Mobile signal (Orange EG), nor Wi-Fi wasnt originally foundable on our previous room, but the room change saved it. For the next week, we bought an internet login card, from the reception, for 2 devices, originally for 10 days. On the card was only 7 days, but they managed to make it longer for us. There are two Wi-Fi networks, REDSEAHOTELS available on the reception area, which is usually overused by guests, and there are not much access points. There is another network, MoGa@RedSeaHotels that is a paid network, that has installed all over the hotel complex (not only The Grand Makadi). The Wi-Fi antennas usually are Cisco routers and Ubiquiti Nanostation 5AC loco and Ubiquiti Nanostation M5 antennas. The speeds on the rooms were 2Mbps download, 1Mbps upload maximum, although at the reception on the payed network, the download was around 8Mbps. Internet is hosted by Etisalat, whereas there are installed antennas on the Etisalat mobile network all around the hotel. The number of Wi-Fi access points is a bit of an overkill for me, as they are now on every corner and are slowing down everything.Food in the hotel was really tasty, there is a main restaurant Lagoon, and there are 2 thematic restaurants, one is with a Lebanese theme, the other one is Italian and Carribean, changing every day. We have all inclusive, and for the price we payed it is really fair. In every restaurant and bar there are usually the stations for juices, there are usually; Orange juice, Apple juice, Pineapple juice, Mango juice, or also water is available. There are also 2 beach restaurants with possibilities like burgers or fish. For dinner at the Lagoon restaurant there are usually 2 soups available, then traditional side dishes like rice or potatoes, then there is a wide availability of meat, like grilled meat, and so on.Overall, the team was really generous and good, and I would like to thank to all of them, mostly to the manager of the hotel, that made my life easier, since I also had exams, which I couldnt do on the reception, where was the best internet. We will soon be flying home to Vienna, therefore I think I have included most of my expiriences. Again, the hotel was beautiful, and hope to come back soon.
Feel so ripped off. Made to pay way over the top due to holiday season. Dont spend any more than £600 per person per week to not feel disappointed. They make you pay extra if you want to eat something half decent. Food not great. Pools freezing, rooms, grubby and so dated. This is NOT a 5 star hotel as advertised, Red sea need to invest - 3 star at best.
Its a really good hotel. Were really lucky to come here. Pool areas are great. Even though there is one pool its very good and very spacious even when busy. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is good even at late meal times. Rooms are all quite big, and are always being tidied by house keepers. There are many restaurants to choose from and all have very good food. I would definitely recommend this hotel in Egypt.
Some people need a reality check when they complain about this hotel. They want to pay Aldi prices and get Harrods quality. When you take off the cost of your flight you get AI holday for less than B&B in Blackpool. Just treat people with respect and enjoy your holiday and the brilliant staff will look after you.
Nice hotel, beautiful view and really nice people. Too bad that we had to insist on having our room after being asked to wait in a room alone (while every other person from the same bus have their room). Other than that, really good and clean rooms. You can also enjoy free drinks at the bar (alcoholic and non alcoholic), there is a little show every night, which was nice !
This is far from a 5* hotel, at best a 3*. The rooms and facilities, including the pool are not well maintained. I showered in the bath with a heavily limscaled shower head, I would not have ran a bath in the slightly rusting tub! The bins were broken with no inner bag. The toilet paper was very budget. The pool was not very inviting having many tiles missing from the bottom. The staff were not 5*! We were constantly asked for tips before getting service. We had to ask multiple times to get anything. Staff would open and walk into our rooms without knocking we had to start using the latch in fear of staff just walking in! It was a big let down as its advertised as a 5* resort. The food was quite average, though there were many restaurants, the only one that had decent food was the Lebanese. Cakes were all dry. There were 11 of us in 6 rooms who all had the same bad experience. However they do pay more attention once you make a complaint but nothing can be done on the spot about the lack of upkeep.Wouldnt visit here again.
Fantastic location, friendly staff, the beach is sand and the Reef, sea off the beach is rock so take rock shoes with you if you intend to go in the water, the Reef off the peer is stunning. The hotel complex is nice, the rooms are a good size, although the bathrooms need a makeover, and a good cleaning. Food in the hotel restaurants is a bit hit an miss, edible but nothing to shout home about. The pools big, and we always found somewhere to sit, and enjoy the sun. Small tips to the staff get you a big smile and a little better service, 1 euro goes a long way. I would go back.
Not quite the 5 star experience we were expecting, few issues with our room that never got sorted, like a drip from ceiling in bathroom, air con wasnt up to much either and lighting in the room was atrocious. we were all inclusive, plenty of drinks and food but very repetive throughout our stay. pools and beach were very good and sea was exceptionally clear and perfect for snorkelling. evening entertain me was good
This was our first time to Egypt so had to rely on reviews but after a time of settling in to the culture and surroundings, we really enjoyed it. The suite was lovely but the bath was in need of replacing and the TV was old. All the staff were fabulous and we enjoyed being able to visit different restaurants. Will definitely be back.
This is 100% NOT a 5 star hotel. Needs major renovation not to mention the bathroom cleanliness. Toilet , tiles, bath very dirty. Also room very dark and small things that are just very very wrong- example we were asking for 3 days straight for toilet paper and only received some once we tipped the housekeeper, remote control and air con switch broken. Only good thing about our room was the big balcony. Food is also awful. I dont know how they managed to make a no taste pizza as thats something that you normally cant go wrong. Only place where the food was okayish was the Lebanese which btw has nothing much to do with proper Lebanese food. However they will tell you that its fully booked but if you give them a tip you get a table straight away which I find super bad!!! Breakfast is bad not to mention the coffee. I mean we didnt starv but ...just bad for they advertise. We walked over to Palace as well which looked one step better but same. There is a pier tho from hotel direct to sea where you can snorkel which is pretty amazing as so many fishes.Staff also keep making very inappropriate jokes which made me very uncomfortable many times.Overall I would never go to this hotel again and dont recommend it.
This place looks nice from the outside but inside is pretty shoddy. No aircon In the food hall so your sweating whilst eating and they are well skimpy on portion sizes. There is a bunch of tiles missing from the pool making the floor sharp. Ive been to Egypt for my holidays 10+ times this hotel is by far the worst.
A brilliant hotel. Staff are very attentive and everything is either being cleaned, polished our replenished (including the beers!)We now have it on our places to go list. After being all over Europe and long haul too, this place ticks all the boxes for us,great weather, great beach, coral reef, diving, relaxed atmosphere ,everything!
Best holiday ever!!! Beautiful stylish Egyptian hotel which will impress you during the day and after the sunsets.A lot of greens all around hotel keep shade for you in hot days and make the scenery more beautiful with colourful flowers.Spacious junior suit with big enough balcony. All inclusive gives you a range food to choose from between restaurants however for some food and drinks you would need to pay (the prices will be in the menu or on the board next to the dish/drink)There are a lot of shops with gifts, pharmacy and illy coffee shop with best ice creams ever around the hotel. Prices very similar as not the same as in Hurghada centre. However it is always worth to negotiate. There is no need to leave hotel at all.Staff is very friendly and helpful (it is a nice gesture to tip staff).Hotel has very beautiful, colourful full of life reef with octopuses, murenas and turtles. Best spot for snorkelling even for not very good swimmers as all equipment is available on the jetty. You are allowed to use life jacket or other support to snorkel.
This hotel is over rated as a five star herhaps that is why it wasnt listed with Thomas cook. The beach service was the worst i have had in 11 years of visiting Egypt. Most of the staff are friendly and polite and room maid service was excellent. There is no beer bar service and the small plastic cups they serve i hadnt seen that small since the kids where 4 years old. There was more negative sights around the only all inclusive evening outside bar which liked a crime scene with the caution tape around it although the week we were there no maintence work was to be seen. It was a pleasant break with amazing fish to see off the hotel jetty.
Nice place for vacation, during our visit the pool was under reconstruction. The view is great. Sunrise is gorgeous. Snorkeling at the bay is great. Better then rift diving. Liked the option of different restaurants for dinner.
Food total junk. Unhygienic. Swimming pool unsanitary, missing tiles smells of sewerage. Always trying to get extra payments for food in a la cart plus charge on drinks in a la carte. Like a lot of people went down with upset stomach. No its no too much sun as I live a good part of the year in Jamaica so I am use to it. Its not too much alcohol as I do not drink. Never go back there again
Journey from May 2019 It is not a 5 star hotel I only give 2 stars some times we stayed in Hurgada this hotel with the name Garan Makadi is the worst. The food is there but no higlight always the same the BBQ was always burned black not to eat. My wife was harassed by the staff, the staff always begged for money. The pool was damaged many holes hurt my foot. Bottle of water I had to pay extra, Cappucino I had to pay extra. All together I can not recommend the hotel
In desperate need of refurbishment. Lovely beach and staff friendly and helpful. Your allowed to use sister hotels next door but you have to buy drinks and pay to go into the clubs.
This place is a very good place for a vacation! The food is very great and the pools are awesome too! The hotel is beautiful! I am glad that we came to this hotel because everyone is very kind and helpful!
Hello Everybody! I have spent 2 wonderful holidays in Grand Makadi 10 and 12 years ago with my girlfriend and we are planning on coming back again this autumn. I am from Romania, she is from Kenya. Despite the fact that I have been trying for the last 2 weeks to make a reservation on sites i havent succecced and nobody has given me a reply about why not, can you please (and i am talking about some staff member) expalin to me what i am supposed to do or explain how I can book a reservation. I hear that the problem can be because we are not married, is this true? For me this is hard to believe!
Good hotel in Egypt. Not so good cleaning. Food could be better. Not so much entertainment. We had access to Makadi Place. Much better drinks and entertainment.
More like a 3 or 4 star hotel than a 5 🌟, but u get ur moneys worth for wot we paid. If u get the option take the Makadi Palace next door as it is significantly better for little more. Njoi 😎😎
They didnt allow our group to walk through their beach unlike other hotels. Their reason was that we are a group of 4 guys!I want to add that they allowed only non Egyptians to pass!
Very quiet , very spacious everywhere - rooms, beach, pools. Clean, all kinds of entertainment - quadbikes, scuba diving, excursions.
I read a few reviews on the way here and thought the place might be not as expected, but I’m here now and it’s great. Great resort and great food and service from the staff 👍🏼❤️
The hotel grounds are lovely but the rooms are sub-standard. We upgraded to a junior suite and the room was still unpleasant and hazardous.
Decent hotel but expected a lot more. Not very relaxing at all.Its this hotel was a flight it would be Ryanair. You think youve paid for all inclusive but then you realise that youve just paid for the very basics.
A really nice place rooms are very comfortable and spacious, eating out in the mall ( book first) there are some really great restaurants
Dirty, disgusting food, rude staff, place falling apart. It’s also not even all inclusive. I would NEVER come back here
Good clean hotel. Not 5 star. Food was good for all inclusive. Booked to go back soon
The best hotel Ive ever stayed in in Egypt.... staff all very friendly food great snorkelling banging... The only downside for me was very quite in day time could do with some chillout music apart from that wicked holiday and I will be going back next year..... The room was fantastic with the biggest of beds... Top tip book room 1209 beautiful view..... see you all soon from me mr Jamie Newbury the one with the bright shorts and the best tipper xxxxx
Very nice hotel. And very helpful staff. Get fascinating photosession there with Brothers Photo Team

It was excellent, i recommend , big thanks to the guest relation and reception people because they were offering us answers to all our questions and advised us on where to go and what to see. thank you all, see you next time!
Amazing place, extremely hard working staff, great selection of restaurants, especially Lebanese one, The Tarboush. Definitely worth visiting!
Excellent, very clean, friendy staff, happy smiling faces.Scenery fantastic, a great. variety of food. All inclusive, highly recommend.
Perfect service. Everyone is very respectful. The staff is extremely friendly. We felt very welcome here.
Overall great hotel. You can read my really long and more complex review over at TripAdvisor! @MaxEkstedt
Room was prehistoric, balcony door lock didnt work, all-inclusive and water has to be paid for... Never again.
Great service but the place needs some love. Very dark room and food not great,
Hotel looked dated although the caribbean restaurant had the best food we tasted in all the hotels in Makadi Bay
Stayed here in July 10 of us the food was awful the toaster was broken the pool grandkids further feet husband cut finger on sunbed my list goes on complained to rep and when we got home they not interested brush off
Hot sunshine ☀ a great place to chill, always sunbeds available, great for snorkling
Had upgrade as first room offered wasnt great.....nice food....several restaurants.... Great service
Good hotel but only for relaxation but no life no animation in the day and waiter speak by Arabic with turest

First time in Makadi Bay and at this hotel . I enjoyed every minute of it .
Amazing hotel we cant stay away lol 12times returned
Only stayed one night ,run out of beer at around 2230 and white wine shortly after.
A littlebit boring food. And the shops at the beach will always try to overcharge you.
I can recommend the lagoon restaurant - very good & fresh food!
