Royal Hot Air Balloons was the operator of the flight we’ve purchased as part of our 10 day tour in Egypt. Lack of communication and last minute changes are the norm for tourism in this country so we did not know the name of the company until we were with the crew.Pre-flightBefore sunrise we were picked off our cruise and went across the river to meet the van that would take us to the take off site. In the boat we had a simple breakfast, signed the waiver forms and received instructions from the crew. Only there we were informed that we could not carry DSLR cameras with us, only phones were allowed onboard. We then took the van and waited inside of it while the balloon was being filled with cold air.During flightThe basket had five areas being one for the pilot and the gas tanks and four for the passengers. We had 6 people in our area which was not crowded and allowed us to change places with each other. The take off was smooth and the flight took approximately 45 min, where we could watch the sunrise, some temples from a bird view and The Valley of the Kings far away.I felt the flight was not that interesting because the pilot did not explained so much about what we were looking at and we kept distance from The Valley itself. The highlight goes to the contrast you can see from above between the desert and the green area on the Nile banks.Post flightLanding went without occurrences and we all received a certificate of flight that we should fill by ourselves. We then took the same way back so the whole experience took about 2 hours early in the morning.
