This beautiful little mosque is 650 years old, and in good condition. The minaret is beautiful and mosques interior consists of hand painted wooden ceilings and the old pulpit still stands. It used to be a Sufi Zawiya and the top of the minaret provides Cairos greatest view of Sayyida Zainab. The mosque was sustained for many years by a family trust (waqf) of the Chamsi clan (Raafat, Sabri, Foda, etc), who are descendents of the prophet (pbuh) and of Timraz Al Ahmadi, who originally commissioned the structure.
An ancient archaeological mosque that contains two shrines behind the prayer room, established by Prince Tamraz, may God have mercy on him.
