Awesome... It will take a whole day to visit all... The police museum is small... But the military museum is huge and also the Citadel itself n the view will make u speechless but when u will see the surrounding of the Citadel and see pyrpid from it and the mosque of Mohammad Ali... And the inside... That will make a day for u.
Such a beautiful place where you can learn a lot about about the history of Egyptian army and has details about every major event in their history. Very clean and professional environment, and it has a cafe close by. When we went we were quite late for the museum but the staff were very accommodating and gave us a quick tour if the entire museum as they closing.
Very beautiful museum and one of the main highlights of Salahuddin Citadel historical complex, the museum is located in a former palace and it exhibits the history of the Egyptian forces during all the times, it’s very rich in history and information and definitely a place not to miss at all, i highly recommend spending time here.
A lot to see here but the displays get quite tiring. The crossing of Suez is an amazing story and it doesnt quite get conveyed in the very tired looking dioramas. A lot of potential though.
The Military Museum in Egypt was established in 1937 in the old Ministry of Defense building on Falaki Street in Cairo. Moved to a temporary building in Garden City in 1938, and then moved and officially opened at the Haram Palace in the castle in November 1949, renovated and opened on 7/26/1982, developed jointly with the Antiquities Authority and opened on 04/26/1988 Developed jointly with the Republic of Korea Democracy in 1990 and inaugurated by former Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak on 29/11/93.
A must see place inside the Citadel of Salah- al Din. The palace has been converted to military museum. The beauty of the palace is outstanding both interior and exterior. 1st and 2nd floors are more beautiful. Visitors should spend more time there.
This is a huge place lots to see inside and out. No cameras allowed inside they hold for you in your own locked cupboard and you hold the key. Phone photos allowed.
I arrived there 3.30 , closer time at 4.30 , staff not helping at all , they need to evacuate all visitors before 3.45 , although it should close 4.30 , I advise to visit early and avoid Friday and Saturday coz its too crowded.
Great museum inside/next to the Ala mosque. Very interesting spread from ancient Egyptian military to more current wars.
İt s beautiful you should visit it
Great place, so much to learn over there, especially the 6th October campaign. And other military equipment used by Egyptian forces
A huge museum. Too many things to see for me. But I think people who are into military history can enjoy the museum more.
Consideriing it is still under maintinance, the outdoor patio was very nice. Has many peices of equipment from 1700s to today. However, many items dont have plaques describing them, but I guess thats the cost fo visitng a new muesem. The indoor areas are still being renovated so we cant judge it just yet. It is within the Qala complex, so consider it a part of a larger trip.
Tried visiting 2 Jan 2021. Interior museum closed for renovation. No clue how for long, could not get an answer. No signs, just orange cones blocking entrance and rude staff saying stay away. This closure was not listed on museum website, and I went to this location expressly to visit this museum. That said, there is an exterior courtyard that is open and might still be worth the visit if youre into this history. Courtyard contains poorly labeled cannons and various modern-era weaponry such as a few MIGs, tanks, and amphibious craft used in 1973.
Its very nice and very informative on connection between the past and present way of finding answers to problems we face in modern society such as astrology and its significance. It is also requires some level of clearance to enjoy the rich information it has to offer. What I really liked was the military equipment and the multimedia rooms.
Good things to see really
A very important cultural place
I would skip this stop. The place is badly maintained and the exhibits are dated and just out out there with no interpretation - meaningless. Also, do not under any circumstance try to use the toilets. Badly maintained and lacking in supplies. Unless you have a reason for going - keep moving.
Really bad. The museum building was closed. There was a soldier at the access path pointing to the outside tanks and planes. No more explanations were provided. The tanks and planes outside the building are in terrible shape. Most of the signs are gone and you barely know what you are looking at. I was really excited to be here and expected a whole lot more.
Big and poorly organized museum
So much detailed information
Good collection of weapons used by egytion in the past
Not bad
The place tells the history of some heroic events in the Egyptian history. This place tells how the Egyptians have always been brave and loyal to their country and this is heart warming and lovely.
Nothting else as a face mask.
V . Good place
Seems like a beautiful place, but didnt enter. Only downside of Egypt is that its people tend to take advantage of tourists and over charge. Hence the reason why we didnt enter. We went with family friends from Egypt, and they had to pay 30 egp pounds, but us as tourists were expected to pay 150 pounds.
Grand collection of ancient Egypt history. Must see with a guide to know more. One easily needs minimum 3h to see the important articles. Dress decently as it is a Islamic country. The boutique shop has nice souvenirs that arent expensive, especially with the foreign currency conversion 😃
Nice place .This is the list of units available here as i remember ( there is more which i forgot )List of weapons :T34s tanks ; Centurion British tank ; Sherman ; Sherman firely ; IS2 ; ISU 152 ; T55 ; BT tanks ( i forgot the sub-type )Mig 21 fighter .F4 fighterAmphibious units ؛ Amphibious bridge .Anti-aircraft defense unitsLong Range Artillery .Anti-aircraft artilleryTrebuchetCatapult....The place is very neglected ..It deserve to be better .
The place is highly recommended as it held an outstanding historical value. The experience at Salah El-Din citadel is helping you pass through at least ancient era and you will see the work of Ayyoubian and Mohamed Ali Pasha.
The National Military Museum in Cairo really is amazing. Is old but the conservation is perfect and you can see airplanes, even war vehicles in perfect conditions. I loved visit this Museum and i hope back and take photos.
It was late afternoon and the museum is already closed. I only manage to enter and see whatever displayed outside. So, if you want to see the whole museum, come early. Dont be late like me. Haha.
This place is historical with very interesting attractions like 3 mosques and museum beside the huge citadel but it needs more care and maintenance to get the best out of it as it deserves.
A great place for tourists to be interested in culture and knowledge. The museum in the citadel of Saladin presents a wonderful collection of historical and rare weapons and important historical documents
Great place. Worth the 6-7 minutes spent there. They will ask you for extra ticket if you want to take pictures... Huh!
Hideous example of egyptian lack of organization ability. No maps exist nor are any displays labeled. Stupid beyond belief! very crude. I visit museums all over the world and this is disgusting. You will be shocked. Am from minneapolis.
Closed, and everything around it, not well maintained. I know, because I have been there many times in the past. A disgrace for the nation, a disgrace for the culture and history. Makes me very sad.
Was a good museum 👌
This is an interesting little spot. Its been undergoing renovations lately and may not be open yet. A visit here helps you to understand something about Egypts national psyche when it comes to the army.
The Egyptian National Military Museum is the official museum of the Egyptian Army. The National Military Museum is located at the north western area of the three Haram Palaces, inside the Cairo Citadel. It overlooks the Mokattam hills and the entrance to the Citadel. The Haram Palaces were originally constructed by Mohamed Ali Pasha in 1872. The museum was established in 1937 at the old building of the Egyptian Ministry of War in downtown Cairo. It was later moved to a temporary location in the Garden City district of Cairo. In November 1949 the museum was moved to the Haram Palace at the Cairo citadel. It has been renovated several times since, in 1982 and 1993.
The ticket office told us it close at 5pm therefore we bought two tickets here and the securities at the entrance said all close at 4pm. We couldnt even go inside mosque. The staffs Suck
You can find the costumes of the police and army throughout the years and times. And you can find some weapons as well, and photos 🤳 and informations about attempts to shoot the president, or rayya and skina (2 women serial killers) or some other assadsins or so...
This place show alot of old weapons from the 16th century frok mamalik age to Ottoman era + weaponsnof secret agents us3d for assainations ....ull be interested alot if u plays assassins Creed
A museum that contains several types of Egyptian weapons from the age of Mohammed Ali until the 70s.It displays several types of artillery, Air defence rockets, Armoured vehicles, Tanks, Air crafts, Torpedoes, even some captured m60 Israeli tanks from yum Kippur war
Currently closed for maintenance so you cannot get inside. But the surrounding garden includes some jet fighters, tanks, and cannons.
Good experience although some main important museums were closed for construction or destroyed/robbed. Im sure it will have better days in the future.
Wasn’t as good as I thought would be but the surroundings were nice, I recommend taking the golf cart specially during inclement hot weather
It was interesting. I was surprised to see USA Military Equipment that Israel lost during the 1973 war. They have tanks, planes, torpedoes and cannons here.
A vast collection of historical artifacts, tommbs, stones even mummies can be found here. Gives an overall overview of Egypt rich history and stories of rise and fall.
Amazing🤩
Very nice place! I didnt get in though. Not enough time. But I definitely will go back to Egypt!
Nice place but it has people trying to charge you for stuff you already pay is only one entrance fee
Theres not much to see. We got there just as it was closing. The Muhammad Ali mosque is much more appealing.
Very good place. Ticket for foreigners is a bit expensive but a must see place if you are in Cairo.
Museum of Military is completely closed due reconstruction , you cannot go inside. Nobody said anything about it.
