A breathtaking archaeological site from around 300 B.C. Which is more than amazing...but unfortunately the Necropolis is deserted (almost no visitors) which pretty much explains the low maintenance the site. But after all, its still worth seeing.

Im a history lover person so these sites really attract me like magnets. This tomp almost has something of everything to connect you to the ancient world. Its just the age is not specifically determined whether its Romanian, Ptleomaican or Pharaonic age.Regardless of which the enjoyment is guaranteed . And its ticket is only 5 - 10 EGP.

This cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Alexandria, and it was carved inside a rocky plateau and it was called tombs because it contains more than one cemetery. The main cemetery dates back to the first half of the third century BC and belongs to one of the wealthy families, and then turned into a general burial in the late third century BC, which led to the creation of additional chambers dating back to late ages. In one of the rooms, pots containing the ashes of the dead bodies were found after being burned. The cemetery is formed. The main entrance leads to an exhibition hall, then a courtyard, then an open square leading to a front room, then the burial chamber, where there are two beds carved into the rockTwo burial methods were used in this cemetery1- How to place the bodies on the funeral bed, as there are no two coffins in the form of a funeral bed carved in the rock2- The method of burial in openings, in the rest of the other roomsThe first tarifa is older than the second, and the main cemetery was originally decorated with architectural motifs, which are half-columns.It was found in it, statues of women and girls wearing Roman dress, such as Indian gowns, known as statues of nagras. And painted paintings symbolize daily life in this eraGravestones were also found containing scenes of farewell to the deceased, scenes of his daily life, and bearing the date of his death. And then transfer all these relics to the Greco-Roman MuseumArea negatives:1- Ground water that wiped out a large part of the cemetery, which led to the disappearance of some parts, because it is not at a great depth from the ground and close to the surface.2- Transferring the discovered antiquities to the Romano-Roman Museum, instead of keeping them in a safe place within the area, it would have seemed an attraction for visitors.3- Erosion factors due to its close proximity to the sea.4- Its absence on the tourist map of the Alexandria visit program, which led to a lack of visitors. The advantages of the region: its distinguished location

Shatby cemetery, a good tourist attraction, and there are some Byzantine monuments from multiple tombs and some marble tombs, the area is next to St. Marks College.
