The huge workbook that still draws from its fountains the worlds scholarsThe work of the complex was suspended for some years, until life was restored to it in 1859 in the city of Alexandria, with the support of a group of scholars; Among them are Jomar, Merritt, Koenig, Shenip and others. The Egyptian Scientific Academy is one of the oldest scientific institutions. More than two hundred years have passed since its inception, and its library has included 200 thousand books, most notably an atlas on the arts of ancient India, an atlas in the name of Lower and Upper Egypt written in 1752, and a German atlas of Egypt and Ethiopia dating back to the year 1842, and the Atlas of Lesos has no parallel in the world and was owned by Prince Muhammad Ali, the former crown prince, entered the Cabinet Information Center, this rare library on the computer. The history of the complexThe complex was established in Cairo on August 20, 1798 by decision of Napoleon Bonaparte. It was located in the house of one of the Mamluk niches in Cairo, then it was transferred to Alexandria in 1859 and called it the Egyptian Scientific Complex and then returned to Cairo in 1880, and the goals of the complex were to work on scientific progress, spreading science and knowledge .And the historian Abd al-Rahman al-Jabrati mentioned in his famous book Wonders of Archeology in translations and news. Describing the establishment of the scientific complex at the time, saying: “... and they demolished several houses of the princes, and took their rubble and marble for their buildings, and singled out for the masterminds, astronomers and people of knowledge and mathematical sciences such as engineering, the body, engravings, drawings, photographers, scribes, arithmetic, and the founders of the Nasiriyah neighborhood, where the new path is, and the houses in it such as The house of Qasim Bey, the Emir of Hajj, known as Abu Yusef, and the house of Hassan Kashif Jarkas, the old and the new ... and they singled out for a group of them the house of Ibrahim as Khadda Al-Sinnari, and they are the photographers of everything, including Arrigo the photographer ... Other notables, and they commented that in some councils Sari Askar ..., another in another place depicts animals and insects, and another depicts fish and whales of all kinds and their names ... »[1] The complex included four people: mathematics, physics, political economy, and literature And fine arts, and in 1918, amendments were made to the people to include literature, fine arts, archeology, philosophical sciences and politics, mathematics, physics, medicine, agriculture and natural history, and the complex contains a library of 200,000 books and an annual journal. In December 2011, the complex building on Qasr Al-Aini Street was burned down in the midst of the political unrest in Egypt after the January 25, 2011 revolution, and the fire destroyed 70% of the total books and manuscripts that the complex contained.About the complexDr. Suleiman Hazin, head of the complex, adopted a plan to develop it based on registering its current building, its rare holdings, among the antiquities, restoring the building, and modernizing its library. Bernard Moreh, the French expert in antiquities restoration, participated in the restoration of the institutes old headquarters and the archaeological house of Sennari, and the two projects were recently completed. The goals of the complexThe motive for establishing it was for two reasons: The apparent reason is to work on the progress of science in Egypt, to research and study historical events, their industrial facilities, and their natural factors, as well as to express an opinion on the consultations of the leaders of the French campaign, but the real goal is a detailed study of Egypt and a study of how to exploit it for the benefit of the French occupier, and this study resulted in a book. Description of Egypt.Description of the complexWhen the French left Egypt in 1801, the activity of the institute stopped due to the end of the reason for its establishment, and a side of the old headquarters of the institute remains, which is the house of Ibrahim Katkhda, nicknamed Al-Sinnari, in reference to the city of Sennar from which he came before moving to Cairo, to become one of its notables thanks to his proximity to Prince Murad Bey. Since the house was built a few years before the arrival of the French, in the middle of the house an open courtyard is a rectangular area with a fountain in the middle, and on the eastern side there are a number of crops, rooms for servants and utilities. On the southern side of the Al-Tkhboush courtyard, it is a rectangular space covered with a wooden ceiling with colorful decorations, resting on a marble column, and on the western side of the entrance corridor is a vaulted door leading to a divan consisting of a room with two galleries, each covered by two intersecting vaults. In the southwestern corner of the courtyard, an ascending staircase ends with a bench on its right, a door leading to a rectangular room on the southwestern side, with two windows, in addition to a door leading to the halls, and to the left of the staircase is a bench covered with a wooden ceiling.
