Lovely historical place with somehow well preserved ruins of ancient part of Luxor. The Elephantine Island Pyramid is for sure one of the highlights while in the city. I somehow came into the complex from the other side, but was accompanied by a security guy into the office to buy my entrance ticket.
The security guard on the northern entry will take you around for 20 egp everything is closed for archeology reasons.Just look from the outside it will be the same dont waste money
Very nice place for madetaion
The pyramid is nothing but a pile of rocks with a hole in the middle. The temples look nice though, but I still feel is too much to pay 50 pound ticket to just get in
Very informative...i only had one hour to do the island..far too short.....you need at least 2 to 3 hours to do it properly.....
An amazing place! Well worth a visit. Make sure to go early.
Beautiful and some breathtaking scenery but requires a guide or some studying before you go
Not much left. But the nearby archeological site is wonderful. The restoration efforts are also amazing.
A guide is a must. Do not go without a guide. There are barely any directional signs. No descriptions are posted.
Have to visit when in Aswan. A nice boat trip with locals
Very peacful place
Nice place to spind sun set time
Such a great place to visit
A hidden treasure in Egypt, worthy to visit and spend a half day on it with a guide...
Interesting, very hot after 9 am
Great place& perfect view
It is more a pile of stones rather than a pyramid...very dissapointing.

Wonderful island with all opposites -top!A must for every vacationer!Unfortunately, a trip to the island of Elephantine in Aswan is not part of the program of a Nile cruise.Even though you can see and experience the life of the Nubians, the ancient Egyptians and todays tourists in the smallest of spaces. The Nubian settlement is very worth seeing. With school, harbor, coffee shop and many more, the daily life of the people who were resettled by the construction of the dam runs there.Dwelling house after dwelling house, old and new, painted and unpainted and in addition the Nubians, who told us in a friendly and carefree way.It is best to take a boat from the locals near the cruise ships, negotiate the payment and be brought to the island in 5 minutes.A ship also runs as a shuttle with a box office of trust, which then costs 25 cents per person and route. The jetty can be found directly opposite the island. We were approached by a teacher from the girls school - Badry Fandy - and immediately invited to school. There we could look around, get in touch with children and learned a lot about the way of life of the Nubians, who live quite poorly. To do this, they paint their houses beautifully, raise crocodiles in their houses until they are two years old. Then there is a Mövenpick Resort on Elephantine with a fantastic view of the Nile. You can also visit a Nilometer there, where the ancient Egyptians could read the height of the Nile flood and thus calculated the tax for the farmers. If you want, you can also visit archaeological sites on the island that provide insight into the life of the pharaohs.Time flies by and you can easily spend a whole day there. So just do something on your own, leave the ship and take a look at real life.On a tour with a guide to a Nubian settlement, you only see what they think is right and often do not reflect peoples lives.Have fun!
On the small island in the Nile, the ancient sites have probably been partially reconstructed after major destruction, which a tourist can hardly judge. Definitely worth seeing and well marketed, a trip with a traditional dhow is also worthwhile.
Authentic place. A must to visit if everyone has looked in Aswan
It appears in the most beautiful image when the image is as a religion, and the condition for seeing the complete picture is that there should be a dimension of sight, depth of thought, safety in machines and distance from all sides and every emotion whose origin is external and internal influences. Of his faithful servants, the influences affected the final result, and it became false in falsehood and the success of the infallible.
If you do not visit Elephantine Island and especially if you do not spend the night there for at least two nights, you will not experience the spirit of Nubia. Unique island with two authentic Nubian villages where real life is lived. Not just an attraction for tourists.
A great view awaits you.
One of the most beautiful and important tourist places on the island of the middle of the Nile
The local ferry will take you here for 2 LE, its suddenly like another world, nobody bothers you here, nobody offers anything, just nobody forces themselves. Walking through the streets of the village and greeting the locals who are sitting here or doing other (un) useful activities is an experience in itself. The Aswan Museum is certainly interesting, but at present (December 2018) the oldest and most interesting pavilion is closed.
I found the closest experience I could have with Black Africa in Egypt. In Aswan, you can see blacks more often. The Nubians were the original people of the region. And the Elephantine Island has marks of this occupation, with colorful houses and paintings that go back to the fauna and other things of the place. It is nothing shocking, compared to the temples of Luxor, but I found the cultural tour necessary. The temple of the Pyramid is not so well preserved.
The place is less than satisfactory, in contrast to the photos on Google, I dont recommend this place
Elephantine is the Greek name of an island located in the center of the Nile shortly after the first cataract in front of Aswan, the ancient Syene. In Egyptian times, I dynasty had the name of Abw or Yebu, or City of the Elephant. The site, already inhabited during the pre-dynastic era, had Satet as its main divinity, to whom Khnum and Anuqet later joined. The island preserves numerous and important archaeological remains such as the divine temple dedicated to the god Khnum, an important nilometer, a small pyramid dating back to the Old Kingdom and a calendar called Elephantine Calendar dating back to the reign of Thutmose III. so named for the characteristic shape of its rocks. In 230 BC from this island, the Greek mathematician Eratosthenes of Cyrene, calculated for the first time the circumference of the Earth.
You cant help but see her from afar
I passed by sailing in Falluja, the guide told me a lot of history regarding the place, it is more interesting to read the route of the Nile and locate it there along with its history
New museum with detailed explanations in English on the objects. Tour of temples and excavations, Nilometer. Guide on request
Tourism is there hardSeven-star transaction and service
Stunning nature by all the landscapes of water, mountains, desert and green space Hallelujah from the collection of these things this place Zou picturesque nature
Currently closed, but the place is very beautiful
They have a night show with lights in several languages, but the schedules vary and in Spanish there are almost no schedules available.
One of the most beautiful places in Egypt, free running monkeys, cats and dogs.Great view of the mainland and the feluccas. 😍
