At the first the Egyptian museum was in his home at Bolaq but after a while these pieces were transported to the building of the museum nowadays and it was the first building to be a museum in history .

Auguste Mariette (Auguste Ferdinand Franรงois Mariette)(11 February 1821 - 18 January 1881). The founder of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo was a scholar of Egyptology who had great credit for preserving the monuments of Egypt, and later known as Marietta Pasha. Masayo Mariette came to Egypt in 1850 and was sent by the French government to search for monuments and manuscripts. He worked on the excavations of the ruins of Saqqara and conducted great excavations until he discovered the sarcophagus. He worked in the excavation alone, without having a formal link with the government. He was transferred to France much of what was found in the antiquities and paintings, and remained in this way until he became Said Pasha in 1858, a masterpiece of the work of Atiyat in Egypt, was the pursuit of Monsieur Ferdinand Dilibes friend of Said intimate, Mariette made efforts in the exploration of antiquities and monuments and transferred to stores Prepared for her by Boulaq. When Said died, Mariett of Ismail was greatly honored. Khedive ordered him to repair and expand the stores of Bulaq. It was opened at a formal public ceremony on 18 October 1863. Dar Al Adiyat continued to progress thanks to Mariettes perseverance and his longtime support for Ismael.
