When President Muhammad Anwar Sadat visited Marsa Matruh in the year 1972, which is the visit during which three presidents met, the Libyan President, Muammar Gaddafi, the Syrian President, Hafez Al-Assad, and the President of Uganda Idi Amin, and these presidents were hosted with modest breaks in the city, including “Villa of the Ministry of Irrigation” so far on the Corniche Street between the Arous El Bahr Hotel and the Awam Mosque, and with the rest of the Matrouh governor, and in some hotels, Eng. Othman Ahmed Othman, Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, proposed to President Sadat to establish a presidential break, Worthy of hosting heads of state.President Sadat was convinced of the idea, and the “al-Tiba”, located on the eastern side of the city’s entrance, which was starting from Mizlan railways at the beginning of Alexandria Street to the borders of the current Izbat al-Salam, was chosen. The Arab Contractors Company started the implementation of the project to construct a presidential palace in Marsa Matruh, and began construction of the huge fence surrounding the palace on an area of 35 acres with the start of the construction of internal buildings and facilities. Construction was not completed in the life of President Sadat, as God passed away, and construction stopped.President Mubarak sent the chief engineer of the presidency to examine the palace, and the chief engineer indicated that he would undertake repairs, but it soon stopped without clear reasons. The palace remained in the custody of the Security Directorate, which handed it over to the military works of the armed forces, and then he was again handed over to Matrouh Governorate in the mid-eighties of the last century, to prepare it again as a break for the Presidency of the Republic.During the reign of Major General Kamal Amer, the former governor of Matruh, I wanted to carry out development and construction to improve the entrance to the city, from the beginning of Alexandria Street, where the famous insider is. Major General Kamal Amer sent a letter to the Presidency of the Republic to ask permission to undertake these developments and construction, and it was surprising that the Presidency of the Republic replied that it did not have any breaks inside the city of Marsa Matrouh. The Presidency indicated that the Governor of Matrouh hand over the building and the land to the armed forces once again, and a handover committee from the governorate was established for the armed forces represented in the leadership of the western region.Throughout the nineties of the last century, many ideas emerged to benefit from the palace in any activity that serves society. Ideas were put forward for tourism exploitation, as a hotel and tourist resort, and some also put forward the idea of using it to establish a university, and you did not see any of these ideas light, and the state of the palace remained as It is and is no longer suitable to be called a presidential palace, although it is still visible in its high walls, and its lavish building lying in the walls of the palace, as surrounded by the slums from each side.

I wish it was used instead of what was closed from the days of Sadat, and it could be turned into a building for the University of Matrouh or a residence for university students
