Its one of those places that makes you love Egypt and the culture all the more. I had the chance to go at night and the place was so magical. The entire structure is well lit showcasing all the different sections of the temples. And right across the entrance lies the famous 3 kilometres road of the sphinx.
It is so amazing that these ruins are here after so long. This is somewhere I have wanted to take my daughter for years and we finally got to do it in 2021. I am so glad we managed to do all the sights around Luxor. This really was a once in a lifetime trip. The temple itself is in good condition considering the age and we really enjoyed walking round the ruins learning about its history. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. Also hotels and trips in Luxor are really good value at the moment so its an ideal time to go.
Really, It’s a fantastic temple of ancient Egyptian lifeI enjoyed so much in this part of the world among the very kind Egyptian people who willing to serve you especially guides who can read the old Egyptian languageIt’s located on the Nile river and you can touch the stones and hard rocks of the old Egyptian statues
Impressive, and the recently open Avenue of Sphinxes adds a lot of majesty to the place. Try going there in the evening as the light is so much better and everything looks more stunning. Make sure to note a mosque built on the top of the ancient temple, which was also used as a Christian church. The intertwining of religions is quite surprising in this region.
Dirty and horrible smell!I wanted to visit this temple because is famous and looks very good especially from far away. When you come closer the smell is disgusting because near the Temple are a lot of horse carriages and also bad is that is very dirty full of street garbage so I changed my mind.Too bad that is not properly taken care of!!
I got to experience this ethereal temple closing in on an evening, where the atmosphere was magnified even more than it is in the daylight hours. How can you explain being in the presense of an exquisite temple thousands of years old, in such amazing condition? Im sorry my friends- unless youre there its inexplicable. I couldnt have fathomed it myself until a few days ago. There were quite a lot of people but not so much that you couldnt move freely, and for a small Bagsheesh a local will set you up with the optimal spots for picture taking that others may not have considered. The best pics are on my husbands camera but Ill still upload a couple here.
Amazing place! So much to explore. Spend the time looking at the hieroglyphs, the ancient stone grave yard, the different rooms and admiring the obelisks and statues. Walking down the avenue of the Spynxes to the Karnak temple is also a must. There are bathrooms and staff was friendly overall. From here explore the souk nearby or shopping avenue.
Please be careful when viewing the photos. You may find it inappropriate for some of the relief photos. Im sorry if you feel uncomfortable. It is lit up at night and is very beautiful.I heard from the guideThere was a wonderfully valuable archaeological site under one of the colonnades, so I dug up the other colonnade, but nothing came out of it.
We visited while the construction was ongoing for the November 25th ceremony so the Ram Avenue was blocked off and the area was busy with construction staff. The temple was incredible nonetheless. The massive statues of kings are just brilliant!Although of all the templates I visited in Luxor this was my least favourite.
The Luxor Temple is a large Ancient Egyptian temple complex located on the east bank of the Nile River in the city today known as Luxor and was constructed approximately 1400 BCE. It is one of the two primary temples on the east bank, the other being Karnak. Many of the pillars are still standing with large areas of original paintings.
Absolutely huge temple. Thousands and thousands carvings in the stones. With the nearly opened avenue of Spynxs ending / starting here it offers unparalleled views up the avenue. The temple site is an active archeological site as well. You can see dozens of people working throughout the temple and surrounding ground.
Smaller than Karnak but better preserved and thus probably more impressive. It costs 160 EGP to enter and you are rewarded with one of the more magnificent sights that youll ever behold. A nearly perfectly preserved pair of three and a half thousand year old pylons, flanked by six gigantic statues of pharaohs and a 24 meter tall obelisk that is the twin to the one standing at Place de la Concorde in Paris. The temple itself has well preserved courtyards and an intact inner sanctum. Especially impressive are the great hypostyle hall and the second courtyard of Amenhotep III with beautiful lotus shaped columns. Wonderful place!
Visiting luxor and the valley of the kings, one cannot miss the temples of luxor and kanak, united a few days ago by a single street surrounded by statues representing the sphinxes. Two and a half kilometers long, it is a walk in the center of the thousand-year history of the pharaohs. Admission is subject to a fee and maximum security like all Egyptian public places. Vie toilet and some souvenir shops. The place is very clean and well kept, I recommend renting a guide as there is a lot of information on what you see. From here the history passed from the period of the ancient pharaohs, to the Romans to alexander the great. The changes are clearly visible and fascinating. Not to be missed.
A popular historical site at night and was well lit up. I paid a big extra at the gate as I carried a small tripod with me (in fact I could hide it in the bag). our guide was a teacher in the Islamic studies, he asked for a permission and we (including women, of course wearing hijab) went into the Abou al-Haggag Mosque; and at the balcony we had a good high up view of the Luxor Temple.
The main attraction for us in Luxor was this temple. You have to be there for sunrise as its the best time to catch the light on the massive columns as well as having the place pretty much all to yourself. We were literally the only people there in the morning and had so much fun, taking in the sights without being rushed. We love to travel so for more reviews and places we visit Check us out on insta: sunkissedbucketlist and YouTube: sunkissedbucketlist
Beautifull place. Would have give it five star rating if it was not for the harrassement/hassle on the streets. Walking there, in times of covid, is a no-go. Every 10 seconds someone demands your attention and ignoring them is sadly not enough. If youre a tourist, go by taxi from the hotel to the entrance. If you drive a car, Luxor seems to me like a car-friendly city.Inside the temple its absolutely astonishing.Unfortunately, a lot of kids (around 5pm) demands your attention as well, they find tourists interesting and ask for photos.Go in the morning, like any other touristic area. Although during the sunset is a nice view.Ps: there is a mosk next to it. If youre highly sensitive to loud music, bring earpieces.
Excellent temple in the middle of the Luxor action. Enjoy a nice stroll down the tourist souk or along the Nile, and wind up right at the entrance to this incredibly well-preserved gem. Have dinner and (after COVID) a hookah across the street ar sunset, watching the hawks fly over the temple. Then, as dusk settles in, cross the street and step back 3000 years. See the lights come on - both on the ancient temple pillars and the West Bank mountains across the Nile. Then, explore intimately the hieroglyphs and arcades as night settles in. Perfect experience all round!
Its beautiful to learn about the history of Egypt . But please I beg you WEAR SUNBLOCK , sunglasses and bring WATER you will be severely dehydrated if you dont . Also wear a hat and bring money to buy water and tip . Other wise from the scorching heat its beautiful . To fellow christians this place is calling out to you
Luxor temple is right in Luxor city and is a wonderful sight along with an open air museum its a must do in Luxor. The scale of the temple is a sight to behold and relatively easy to walk. Currently (october 21 2021) they are under some reconstruction and some development for a new path between Luxor and Karnak temple. I heard it will be complete in November giving better access to the two places for tourists and festivals. If you are able to understand Arabic all the temples have guardians of the temple (people whos generational family have worked in the tombs) who can give you a better tour and explanation than any guide as well as a small tip will satisfy them.Must see.
So amazing. Sphinx valley is great to see. Night view is no doubt thrilling but day light visit is better for a family tour for safety reason.
Words cant describe how magnificent is that place. You can take better pictures in daylight but the night pictures are alright. Beware theyd kill the lights by 7:45 pm
This is another one of Egypts must see great places. Make sure to bring some small change in Egyptian money or $1 bills for tips to security guards if you want them to show you good places for pictures and also for having them take pictures for you. Guards with AK-47 mashine guns usually show the best and neatest places to take pictures.
I didnt visit it inside because i walked around it and you can have a good view of the ruins. Was told that Karnak Temple was more important to visit that this one. It was truth. Really bigger size and more to visit. Its nice to go around during night time near the Nile river, its iluminated.
One of the best temple among Egypt staying partially built. In luxor capital of the ancient Egyptians dynasty of theban pharaon you will find big monuments decorated by amazing statues. The visit over night is perfect with the well balanced lightning and especially for the sunset on the nil. For egyptology lovers
Well, its amazing. The temples and carvings are mind-blowing, add us so much in Egypt . I was so overwhelmed by Karnak that I couldnt appreciate it all much as if I hadnt gone to them back to back. Both of them, so totally unmissable!
Best of its kind. Do not miss this historic place. Great venue to make amazing pictures, especially at sun set
Such an amazing Temple. You can see while youre taking a walk by the Nile, but also when you go inside its amazing.
Luxor temple is supposed to be awesome at any time, however, it is too crowded until 19:00. Better to visit between 19:00 and 20:00 and enjoy the temple with beautiful light. Currently (October 2021) there is a construction work being doing, but Im not sure if it is about building a permanent entertainment scene or it is just a temporary construction.
Absolutely incredible scenes, how anyone can leave a lower review is laughable. I recommend going with a guide to help bring the history to life. If you see people leaving on the monuments or trying to climb on this piece of history please punch them in the face.
