Completely hopeless.1. There is NO actual Europcar outlet here. Basically you arrive at the airport and you have to call Europcar (Goodluck getting them to answer the phone) and they will send a driver (Probably in 2 hours time) to drop off the vehicle.2. They will always try to get more money from you at any cost.3. Refusing to give them extra money at this point will result in you not getting your vehicle and thus stranded at the airport with your luggage.4. It is not the same price for everyone. Forgotten invoices in the vehicle from previous customers confirmed that they overcharged me several dollars which is not worth arguing about but the fact remains.Do yourself a favour and get a taxi from the airport to your hotel. If you are staying in the Luxor area, just get a taxi everywhere.

I rented a car here for 8 days in Nov 2018 and it was a great experience. Professional staff who really go WAY out of their way to service Luxor airport — and theirs is the only option. Their office is actually in Hurghada, so someone drives all the way here to drop the car off, then takes a bus back, then does the same thing when you come back to return the car.We had a pretty new Kia with around 70k km in it, vehicle in great shape no issues driving around all of upper Egypt. I’m a non-Egyptian and non-resident and had no issues with any police at any checkpoints, everyone was polite and curteous and curious to see a full family of obvious Europeans driving themselves around upper Egypt.I’ve rented Europcar in several unusual places — Namibia, the Atacama desert, Luxor, Marrakech — and it has always been a great experience. I’ve never had an issue with additional charges or any issues with scrapes being “found” on the car on pickup.Anyway A+ service with our rental. Just remember that there is no physical rental office here!! You have to arrange it at least several days in advance, maybe a couple weeks or more, and someone will wait for you outside to deliver the car when you land at the airport.Also take care to rent a car in Egypt. if you’ve never driven in a similar country before it is probably not the best place to start. However upper Egypt is nowhere near even remotely as crazy as Cairo.
