History of mosques and mosquesSince the Islamic conquest of Egypt (20 AH - 640 AD), the Egyptians have been presenting all their different knowledge in order for the mosque to be an expression of Islam in its great civilized sense. Therefore, mosques began to be built according to a purely Egyptian vision. Perhaps its beginning was with the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque, which was the first beginnings in design. And the decoration, and the construction of what is known as the hollow mihrab, which the Egyptians perfected, and the minarets that the Egyptians began to develop according to wonderful technical rules, in addition to being the first to make the mosque a social and cultural institution.Then, the architecture of Egyptian mosques began to develop with the succession of Islamic eras, and the Mamluk era (648-923 AH / 1250-1517 AD) was a huge leap and a peak in the upgrading of the aesthetics of mosque architecture and the various forms of Islamic architecture, when the Mamluk sultans competed to establish mosques, schools, fountains, palaces and agencies. Therefore, mosque architecture came as an expression of an era of taste, sophistication and beauty. After the art of mosque architecture became established, the Egyptians began competing to endow some of their wealth to build mosques, take care of them, and develop their function, which have always been bright pages in the history of Egypt.
