Museum + Villa Cerruti (collection). From large International installation to a collection estimate at HUNDREDS OF MILIONS; THAT BETWEEN De Chirico, Modigliani, Picasso, Burri, Vedova ... and a collection Of Gold founds among the richest in Europe. It allows a synthesis of art from 400 ti 900. EXTRAORDINARY a magical Place, ESSENTIAL .
The castle is located in an amazing location. From the hill it’s possible to see the surroundings and the nearby city of Turin. The castle hosts temporary and fixed exhibitions that are stunning. The difficult interpretation of many of them suggests to book a guided tour to fully appreciate the works of art.The staff is ready to answer any of your questions!
A museum for lovers of conceptual and contemporary art.Exhibitions change regularly so it is different each time. The most enjoyable to me is the building itself and the location!Be sure to enjoy a relaxing moment at the cafeteria. 👍 to the Panini, all different varieties.
Nice place.Amazing CastelWeird exhibI found it strange to visit and having the guardians following you like dogs and telling you how to handle your bag (not on the back but with the hand). What I dislike is the fact that they tell that to me and my teenagers but not other people!Let me enjoy the place quietly and learn how to welcome tourists !!!😒
Awesome modern art gallery in a crazy old Castello. Look up the history of the previous owners - it should be made into a movie. The building is a wonderful study in itself and the collection of modern art is absolutely amazing. The permanent collection is well worth the visit and although it sounds incongruous to house modern art in a restored Castello the collection has been displayed in a such a way that the site complements the works of art and the whole is more than the sum of its parts.
Amazing museum and palace restoration. The permanent collection of contemporary art is pretty bad, but it is worth the trip from Turin just to see the interiors of the old palace.Great walk up to the museum through the little town of Rivoli (skip the shuttle bus unless you are infirm).
Very interesting collection of contemporary art in a very cool building, friendly staff, great cafe BUT NO SAFE PARKING. We parked in the area with the P sign post but had our car broken into and luggage stolen=:( The Castello staff were very helpful in translating with the Italian police and one suitcase was eventually recovered. However the staff did say that break ins have occurred here in the past. There were no warning signs and apparently no better place to park. This is something they really need to sort out if they want to attract visitors.
An impressive building complex with a fantastic view towards Rivoli and Torino. Also a nice park to the right of the entrance. There is a exhibition hall for modern art as well as a first class restaurant for evening meals.
Wowowo This was well worth the visit! I’d allow 3 hours for full experience comfortably. I hope it comes to the US as I know loads of folks who would love to see it! I miss this style of ‘full immersion’ music with thought out into lyrics, art and music.
Great contemporary museum with a super collection. the building is a former property of the savoia family restructured during the 90s by local architect. not easy to reach by public transport. it is easy to take a taxi with a fixed fare from rivoli to torino.
The Castle of Rivoli is a former Residence of the Royal House of Savoy in Rivoli (Metropolitan City of Turin, Italy). It is currently home to the Castello di Rivoli – Museo dArte Contemporanea, the museum of contemporary art of Turin. The castle was probably built in the 9th–10th centuries. Its existence is mentioned for the first time in 1159, in a diploma by Emperor Frederick Barbarossa that ceded the Rivolese territories to the bishops of Turin. The House of Savoy acquired Rivoli in the 11th century. Soon afterward, a feud began with the bishops, which in 1184 resulted in damage to the castle. In 1330 Amadeus VI of Savoy allowed the Consiglio dei Principi, senior administrative council of the countryside to occupy it. The castle was the first place of public veneration of the Shroud of Turin. The castle then experienced a period of decline. In 1559, the Treaty of Cateau-Cambrésis forbade the Duke Emmanuel Philibert from residing in Turin until he had a male child. He therefore resided in the Castle of Rivoli, having it restored by architect Ascanio Vitozzi. In 1562 heir Charles Emmanuel I was born, and he returned to Turin. Works on Vitozzis designs were brought on until 1644 under Carlo and Amedeo di Castellamonte, with the construction of the so-called Manica Lunga, intended to house the Savoy Gallery, the sole 17th-century part of the edifice still visible today. Numerous works of art were however stolen by French troops in the following years. New works began after 1706.Victor Amadeus II commissioned a new façade from Filippo Juvarra, which also went unfinished. After his abdication and failed attempt to regain power from his son Charles Emmanuel III, Victor Amadeus lived here as a prisoner with his morganatic spouse the Marchesa di Spigno. After his death, the castle remained mostly abandoned, until in 1863, when the comune of Rivoli turned it into barracks. Twenty years later a section was used as library. The edifice was heavily damaged during World War II, and remained in a substantial state of abandon until 1979, when new works of restoration were begun. In 1984 the castle was reopened as the home of the Museo dArte Contemporanea, the first contemporary art museum in Italy. In 2000, the castle also became home to a Michelin-starred restaurant when chef Davide Scabin moved his restaurant Combal there renaming it Combal.Zero.
The best contemporary Art museum in Turin. Amazing location
The castle is located in Rivoli about 15 kms to the west of Turin, no more original furnitures of the castle, you will see some frescoes at the ceilings, now it houses the collection of contemporary art, very interesting exhibition. Worth a visit ! Parking area available !
If you are in Turin and like contemporary art dont miss this museum off the beaten track!
Very nice, its at the same time a museum for contemporary art. I have liked the place.
Tis a silly place. And to copy a phrase from Rock and Morty ive often suspected that i could knock out in a few hours what this museum exibits in an entire year....
Beautiful castle with a great view of Torino! The museum is quite nice too
15 min. from Torino.. Great contemporary art museum in a beautiful historical building..
Very nice museum. High qualified guide can help you in your visit
Excellent. Got the bus that travels there from Torino. Easy.
Great!
The architecture is great as are the views. Make sure to walk down to the Centro storico.
Beautiful and interesting place!!
Amazing castle and good contemporanean art selection, the price of the ticket is ok
Top
Interesting exhibition at an impressive location.
Great views, and nice contemporary art museum
Fun place for a short but interesting exhibition.
Interesting collection of interesting men , but not enough time to enjoy
The collection and the castle entwine in harmony, a beautiful combination nation
Excellent museum, well taken care of.
Very interesting. highly recommended!
Loved it
Nice building but a bit far.
Must see during a sightseeing stroll
Amazing architecture and excellent permanent collection
Great
Belissimo museo
Formidable
Well worth a visit
Amazing
Good place
Must visit
Bella location
Belvedere !
Beautiful experience in an evocative and well-kept place. The perfectly preserved architecture is enchanting, flattering the recovery interventions especially on the roof, which can be appreciated in all its beauty from the top floor (where it housed the installation of a contemporary artist). The ideas of the modern art exhibition and the outdoor spaces are interesting. Passed with full marks.
Really beautiful and impressive museum. Breathtaking location, mix of ancient and contemporary! We only visited the castle, without visiting the Cerruti foundation. The museum is divided over three floors. On the first floor is the work of Cattelan: Novecento. A stuffed horse hanging from the ceiling: very strong image, but really beautiful! The rest of the museum is full of modern, contemporary works. I recommend taking a couple of hours to visit this suggestive place! All for only 10 €!
Castle different from the usual Italians we are generally used to. It retains many ancient rooms with frescoes and decorations but it is the typical example of excellent coexistence between ancient and contemporary (of a certain level though). Even the modern structural works do not clash with the structure as a whole. Outside, it is also possible to walk around the castle admiring the view of the surrounding urban landscape. Nice discovery.
The castle of Rivoli is home to the Museum of Contemporary Art: a museum housed in the Savoy residence of the castle of Rivoli, in the province of Turin, a building of historical interest declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. The Castle has had a long troubled history, after a great restoration work that brought to light the original stuccos, paintings and frames and gave life to the Castle as we know it today, a perfect mix of history and art, past and present.A museum that is worth visiting at least once to discover how contemporary art can be enhanced by a historical context and how buildings can come to life thanks to the works of artists. The Castle is not easy to reach by means other than cars and it is not open every day of the week so you must plan your visit carefully. It has all the potential to be a contemporary art museum of international scope, but I find that unfortunately it has numerous flaws. A decidedly sparse and uncared for bookshop, little attention to aspects such as gadgets and the cafeteria, museum staff not up to par {I personally witnessed two different couples of tourists asking for information and two different operators were unable to say a simple word in English}.I recommend visiting and enjoying the view over the city.
Ive been there dozens of times. The building and the spaces of the museum are beautiful, the staff at the cashier polite, the staff in the hall always make me feel a little observed ... The exhibits ... Once they were much better, more interesting and concrete; for those who do not already know it, the permanent collection is beautiful and interesting. The view from the castle, fantastic on beautiful days, consoles from disappointing visits
A testimony of the history of the Turin area, the castle of Rivoli shows an eighteenth-century construction site that was not completed except by an important proof of the construction techniques of the past. The urban refurbishment of the context adjacent to the historic home enhances the usability of the public, making it a participant in admiring the size and proportions.
A beautiful museum of modern art, housed in a Savoyard castle, unfinished but recovered. It is also a museum of itself, as well as hosting various exhibitions and a rich permanent collection; this is changed frequently and includes site-specific permanent works, created specifically for the Rivoli museum. Recently the museum has been enriched with the Cerutti Collection.
Bello fortissimo, the most beautiful museum (/ foundation / collection / gallery) of contemporary art ever seen in Italy.Go and see it all.Curate it wow. Wow exhibition space. Works wow but wow right. Low cost ticket.I repeat: go and see it.P.s. I recommend going as soon as it opens as there is so much to see
Nice but complicated museumThe museum itself is very interesting, also thanks to the temporary exhibitions. The staff for the most part friendly. But there are some gaps that made the visit very complicated.First of all, booking or even just understanding what type of ticket to book is difficult. The Cerruti collection is not in the Castle itself and this is not clear from the site. The site absolutely asks to print tickets, which is difficult for a tourist to do. Fortunately, they also read e-tickets.At the entrance on the right there is the ticket office on the left you can access if you already have tickets. From Turin to get to the museum without a car is really complicated. Is it possible that a museum of which Piedmont is so proud does not have suitable connections? Metro and bus that doesnt run as frequently or train and 40 minute walk. The cafeteria (on the first floor but not well signposted) has minimal offers to eat and to finish the collection in the long sleeve on the third floor (no elevators) it was closed but there were no signs so when we reached the third floor we were told. “The collection is closed”.I travel all over the world and even much more modest museums have greater organization and attention to detail. More can and should be done.
Suggestive location, full of charm and history. The classical music in the background that accompanies the visitor makes him perceive in a magical environment. To visit, because there are always some high-level retrospectives and exhibitions. Great bar and services inside.
A place full of works of art with references and historical information concerning more centuries and more rulers of the Castle! A place that has always been considered a bulwark of cultural dissemination through the Events that have always followed one another with exhibitions and art galleries! I highly recommend it!
Very nice, well organized, helpful staff. The permanent exhibition is always beautiful and the alternation of temporary exhibitions is very pleasant. The welcome has a small surprise (which I do not spoil) at the time of the ticket that those who, as in my case, brought guests is a very pleasant plus and becomes a pleasant reminder not only of the museum but of the cultural welcome of a city that it has as much to offer as Turin, it would be nice if the other museums thought of something similar too.I highly recommend it! Obviously with the prerogative of interest in modern and non-classical art, otherwise in addition to the view and external photography of the castle I recommend other more suitable museums.
Wonderful museum with priceless works of modern art. The museum complex should be advertised far and wide, but as often happens in Piedmont, it seems that the only things to see are Mole, the Egyptian Museum and some usual village fair. Furthermore, it is really shameful that after spending a few million euros of public money for the construction of the escalators to easily reach the castle, this system is left off and in a state of complete abandonment (I know this is done on purpose. to favor the private bus lines that serve that route). Leaving aside these usual filth due to the shameful mismanagement of Italian politics, the visit to the museum / castle is really worth it because the place is beautiful.
A place full of charm and history, recovered for use as a contemporary art museum with permanent and other temporary exhibitions. There is also a delightful bar with an outdoor terrace from which you can enjoy a beautiful view.
I didnt like it very much, maybe even my fault. I was expecting a castle with some rooms still furnished. In my opinion the works should be exhibited in more order
The castle is set on a hill overlooking the town of Rivoli, which houses one of the most interesting contemporary art museums in the country. To visit absolutely.
Magnificent place, one of the symbols of Rivoli. From the castle you can enjoy a spectacular view and the museum inside is a lot of stuff, a must see
I went on a trip with the school here. The place is clean. The ledge at the top of the castle is beautiful. I havent seen all the works of art but the ones that struck me most are definitely the hanging horse and the venus with rags. Also very nice is the bar that makes delicious ginseng and there is a lot of space. The castle is also very large and in addition to the ever-present contemporary exhibition we also saw another that was only temporary.
Nice castle. You can spend a very relaxing day. The Castle is interesting, but you should visit the park and do not miss the view offered by the hill. I also recommend that you take via Al Castello until you reach Piazza Matteotti to visit the historic center of Rivoli. Suitable for families and children.
Beautiful walk, nestled on a hill in the green, beautiful landscape and well equipped.Bar in the castle for a breakfast with a panoramic view of Rivoli, next time I will also go inside 😁
