One of the oldest mosques in the village of Hafna --- Sheikh Al-Hafni was born in the village of Hafna in Bilbeis, Sharkia Governorate, in the year 1100 AH / 1688 CE, and he was brought up in and attributed to it. His lineage to al-Husayn ibn Ali ends on the one hand of his father’s mother, Sayyidah Turk bint al-Salim bin Muhammad - Al-Hefni grew up in his village and preserved the Holy Qur’an until Surat al-Shu`ra . From his age, he completed the memorization of the Qur’an, then he worked in memorizing the texts, so he memorized the millennium of Ibn Malik in grammar, peace in logic, the jewel in monotheism, and the ritual in the obligatory prayers, and the body of Abu Shuja ’in the jurisprudence of Shafi’i, and other texts.Al-Hefny navigated in grammar, jurisprudence, logic, hadith, origins, and theology, as he excelled in presentations and systems of poetry systems in classical and colloquial, and he excelled in writing prose according to the style of his time. ---- Sheikh Al-Hefny took over the Sheikh of the Al-Azhar Mosque after the death of Sheikh Shabrawi in 1171 AH / 1757 M., and remained in the position of sheikhdom for ten years.----- Sheikh Muhammad bin Salem Al-Hefni died on Saturday 27 Rabi Al-Awwal 1181 AH / 1767AD at the age of eighty years and was buried the next day after praying on him at the Al-Azhar Mosque in a busy scene.
