Unmistakably Catholic + unmistakably Greek + unmistakably impressive shrine at the scale of a shrinking community. The place speaks miles of spirituality and mysticism. A guaranteed heart warming experience

Historically, the term Greek Orthodox or Greek Orthodox has been used to describe all Eastern Orthodox churches in general, with the term Greek referring to the heritage of the Byzantine Empire. [7][8][9] During the first eight centuries of Christian history, most of the major intellectual, cultural and social developments in the Christian Church occurred within the empire or within its sphere of influence,[10] [11][9] as the Greek language spread widely It became a spoken language and was used in most theological writings. Over time, most parts of the rites, traditions, and practices of the Church of Constantinople were adopted by all, and these parts still provide the basic patterns of contemporary orthodoxy.[12][13][14] Thus the Eastern Church came to be called Roman or Greek Orthodox in the same way that the Western Church is called Roman Catholic. However, the designation Greek was abandoned by the Slavs and other Eastern Orthodox churches after the awakening of their national peoples since the 10th century CE.[15][16][17] Thus, in the early twenty-first century, in general, only those churches which are closely associated with Greek or Byzantine culture were called Greek Orthodox churches.
