First, don’t be impatient because you will be late. That’s just how it is.Second, don’t expect everything to work out easily. Egyptian way, you have to fight for what you want.Review on the train:- Overall pretty good experience. The cabins are nice, spacious enough and confortable. The crew is right there to help and answer your every need.- On the bad side, we didn’t have any electric outlets to charge our phones. With all the delay, we thought we would never make it to the B&B the next day. Also, diner is nice but breakfast could be improved. In my opinion the prices are over exaggerated. We have night trains in France and they are twice cheaper!

The food was nice and all but the train got delayed 14 hours we were supposed to arrive at the train station at 7 AM in the morning but we ended up getting there at 10 PM!!!!!! not to mention that they ran out of food and they told u to leave if we weren’t happy. They also gave us no information on what was going on so this was a terrible experience especially on new years I do not recommend this what so ever! We also got trapped on the train for 34 hours. If I were you I would just take a plane and get it over with because the bathrooms made me wanna throw up and leave.

Took the train from Cairo to Aswan and personally thought it was great! Nice little dinner after departure, comfy beds in the cabin and a friendly chap to get you teas and coffees etc. It was a 13 hour journey that flew by to be honest, I could easily have done a few more hours. Id happily take it again. A bit expensive though at 80 dollars

Not good! Everything is very old and broken. Its filthy aswell, my cabin had cigarette ash in the little storage area next to the bed. And overall very dirty. Food is as basic as it gets: rice, plain vegetables, very dry and blant potatoes and some tahini, not even water. It does get you to your destination, but we also had a two hour delay. All this is to be expected in a developing country, yes, but for 120$ it really needs to be much better. Not recommended, just fly.

Not a bad experience. Price is the same as a flight, but we were burned out from having taken 3 planes in the past week and opted for the train instead.Beds are comfortable enough to sleep, food was edible (airline food quality, but thats what you get), bedding and cabin was clean, bathroom was clean, staff were pleasant. Train left and arrived on time. Also, the tourism police at Ramses station are SUPER friendly. All of Egypt is super friendly.Giving a 4 because its not a top notch train or anything, but it was exactly what was expected and got us where we needed to be.

This train was once the best train in Egypt. After multiple experiences, I can say that the sleeping train 82 is now a dingy lousy train. The cleaning is ignored: the blankets are dirty, the cabinets’ walls are filthy, and there are small insects everywhere, emerging after midnight. Moreover, there is no respect for the schedule. It took 18 hours from Cairo to arrive at Aswan station, whereas it was supposed to take 12 hours.

Been stuck on this train for 11 hours after it was delayed at the station for 7 hours. Woke up thinking we’d arrived to Luxor but we’re still 10 minutes away from the train station the night before. No ones explained what’s going on when I suggested giving a refund the worker told me I shouldn’t have gotten on the train if I wanted a refund. Looks like we have another 24 ahead on this miserable experience of a train. Avoid at all costs.

Aside from the friendly conductors (some of them) and attending staff. The trains interior condition, cabins + bathrooms is really not up to scratch for the price you pay for a ticket. Very old trains, pretty dirty and smelly. One of the attending staff was smoking on board. The driver of the train - shocking experience. Could hardly sleep because every 5 minutes he was slamming on the brakes, causing all luggage to go flying and anything loose to shift. shortly after this, he would get back up to a high speed ( was this guy a taxi driver before??) Terrible driving!

The Luxor to Cairo overnight train was an experience that you should only try if that is something you are interested in.The sleeper cart was clean and had everything you might of needed to stay the night except for some tissue. 2 single bunk beds with a sink, mirror، food tray and small storage space. Of course the space is tight considering its a sleeper train you should expect as much. The train also had some rudimentary controls for lighting, AC, and music, however the music switch did nothing and the A/C knob was broken in my cart. The service on the train was super courteous, probably the best part of the train. The food was surprisingly good for a train. I was served steamed vegetables, a bun, chicken, rice, and some small desert snacks. They have drinks and snacks for sale on the cart.( Soft drinks, water, chips, coffee, tea) the prices are roughly 1.5times the prices in town for the same productThe bed was clean and quite firm. They give you 1 pillow and a blanket for a small sized bed. if you are 6 foot and a nice you will bang your head on the top bunk if you sit up all the way.Sleeping on the train is a loud and bumpy experience. The train has constant jerks and bumps that will wake you up or prevent you from sleeping. As well as the loud him from the train can be an issue if you have trouble with noise when you sleep. The bathrooms were gross, wet, with metal toilets that smell like prison toilets. The toilet paper/hand towels run out throughout the night so ensure you have your supply before its gone.

We decided to travel by train due to Egypt Airs bad safety record. What a nightmare. Firstly it was an hour late. Secondly the aircons thermostat doesnt work so its absolutely freezing cold inside the cabin. The stench of fumes and dust inside the cabin - my mom slept with her mask on. The cabin is so cramped and horrible - only really suited to one person. The toilet is disgusting, it doesnt flush but a flap opens up onto the rails. It was really a terrible experience that we couldnt wait to end. Some positives: the staff were very sweet and helpful, the bedding was clean thank heavens, and the view in the morning along the Nile and farms is pretty.

Definitely not worth the money. The cars are old and dirty, especially the bathrooms are very unclean and without soap or toilet paper. Food is substandard. For a fraction of the price (ca. 10USD), you can buy a regular first class ticket with very comfortable reclining seats. Food is also a lot better on the regular train and you might even meet some friendly locals instead of hanging out with a bunch of ripped off tourists.

The train and service was fine, however 80 $ (thats 1300 EGP!) per person is way to much for a small cabine and airplane-like food.I only recommend this train when you dont have much time in Egypt but flying is no option. For all the other travelers: buy some first or second class tickets for a fraction of the price and ride a normal train during the day.

Pricy for foreigners. Small and old cabins, food is average but ok for train food. Train driver on the way back to Cairo drives like crazy and doesnt know how to break. Woke us up several times at night, we freaked out. Train staff extremely friendly and helpful, reason foy 3 stars. Overall, not up to standards, need improvements.

So... really glad we did this. But...its hectic and a bit crazy getting on. Buy your tickets online way in advance, they stop selling them at some point. We didnt and had to play dumb Americans so they would sell them to us. $80 pp for a cabin. Its got two tiny pull down beds, a sink, one outlet, includes dinner pp and breakfast pp. A little space for small bags and coats. Cabin attendant is great so tip him.Lots of info below: First in Cairo you go to Ramsis rail station in Giza, Watania was way off on google, we submitted correction. Crazy amount of busses, people, sales/shops, when you feel like its crazy...Youre there. If you didnt buy tickets online and print them...big mistake Once there look for a big building, almost looks like a mosque, but tons of mostly locals with big bags are going in.Once youre in the gates, ignore most of the sales people pretending to work there and go to your right. Its a tiny glass door before you get in and there are actual people to talk to. Option B, not as great, go to a gate two people sitting on chairs in front of it and tell them your destination...if they point you in go to an ATM type machine, click the british flag for English and ...good luck. Ours said sold out. We went back out to the little office mentioned earlier (hidden office) and bought our tickets. Then back inside to our gate. Some tourist may feel uncomfortable but no need to worry, they are nice people there. Anyway the cabin are almost exclusively for tourist. The number tells you which train part, guys guarding doors will look at ticket and help, once inside the door number tells you the rest. The attendant helps with everything! Drinks, soda/water, are SO cheap. Tip! A/C is kind of there haha but good enough. Eat your dinner, sleep, wake up to breakfast 1 hour before your destination. Attendant wakes you with breakfast...TIP.Good luck, better than an uncomfortable bus or HORRIBLE, RISKY, DRIVE. Bathrooms at the end of each side.

Although the room is spacious, the bed is super hard, it gets very cold at night and they only give you a very thin quilt. The toilets dont work and they suck. We will not talk about the delay of the train by two hours and three hours. We will not talk about the prices of tickets that were boiled to develop the trains, however the cabin has many broken needs and hours for some windows that leak air ...And I will not talk about the terrible shower that comes out of all the pieces of the room and it is floundering, some ...But you will talk about the most important thing, as the diameter is the bathWorse than the worst public bath in the world .. There are no tissues and no soap or soap in the first place .. The bidet followed the bathroom, O the handle is overwhelming, the water is weak, it is not working in the first place, besides the bad smell and the cleaning is not availableThe country is blessed, I rest from the bus like sleeping, for the long road, but a terrible experience, I would not wish to repeat it, especially for the bathrooms I saw.

The 84 tourist sleeper train did not arrive at the Giza station on the date specified in the ticket, which is 19/40, and therefore the time moved at 20/34, that is, about 54 minutes later, without justification, in the event that the Giza station did not arrive until 21/15, the breakfast meal did not reach us in addition to the poor condition of the cabin, which mostly all its components are disassembled Consequently, disturbing voices occur that cannot be tolerated. That was today Wednesday 6/13/202080, and the food tables are broken. I hope this complaint will reach the head of the authority.
