AMENDMENT to what I wrote below: After we wrote the review we have been contacted and got a reasonable refund via Western Union and hopefully our feedback will be used to improve future tours!This relates to Samo Tours as recommended in the Lonely Planet:Our guide Khaled was very knowledgeable about ancient Egypt and we had an interesting tour. However, we left with a bad feeling, because of the following:Khaled said we should really do the camel tour in a friendly way and insisted that the price was really cheap and we couldnt get a better price and that the camels are treated well. We found afterwards, that we had paid about 6 times the normal price (they probably shared the money) and the animals were in bad condition: One had a bad infection in the nose, which was bleeding and still the camel guide pulled hard on a string which was going through the infected nose so that the camel screemed in pain. The wounds were clearly not treated, but Khaled insisted they were.We had possible stops at the papyrus museum and an essence/aroma shop, trying to persuade us in a friendly way. These were not on the itinerary and obviously further attempts to make more money. The restaurant was good but overpriced and an obvious touristy place (more than 30€ for 3 people, though Khaled denied it was expensive for Egyptian food). Positive was that on the second day he took us to a tasty falafel place and it was about 1€ total.In the Cairo tour the Khan El Khalili souq was included. However, Khaled recommended to skip the market, because the traffic would be dense and said he would not guide us anyways, but just sit in a café while we were supposed to walk around on our own. I would recommend to remove the souq from the itinerary as this is clearly no added value for the customer if you pay for a guide the whole day.When we gave this feedback to Salah Muhammad from Samo Tours, he tried to talk himself out of all mentioned points and said he didnt want to discuss any further. So obviously he had no interest in improving the service in any way.
