The Federal Republic of Tanzania is a country in east-central Africa bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, and Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the south. Countrys eastern border lies on the Indian Ocean.Dodoma is the official capital of Tanzania where parliament and some government offices are located. After independence and until 1996 the main port city of Dar es Salaam was the countrys political capital. Dar es Salaam remains Tanzanias main commercial city and practically the center of most government institutions. It is also the main port of the country and its landlocked neighbours. The name Tanzania derives from the merging of the two names Tanganyika and Zanzibar, which united in 1964 to form the Federal Republic of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, which was later renamed the Federal Republic of Tanzania. The land of Tanzania extends from the Indian Ocean to the east in the form of sandy beaches, coral reefs and swamps in which coastal mangrove forests grow, then a plain that extends along its coasts, and its maximum width is in the central region to the west of Dar es Salaam, then follows the coast from the west, a medium plateau 1500 meters high It is spread over volcanic mountains, such as Kilimanjaro, the highest mountains in Africa and is located near the border area between it and Kenya, and Mount Osbara and Livingstone, and the African Groove passes through it. From Lake Malawi (formerly Nyasa) and a number of small lakes, the most prominent rivers of Tanzania are the Rovuma, and it forms the border between it and Mozambique, the Rufiji River, the Wamy and the Pangani.Tanzanias climate belongs to the tropical, humid type, but its vastness and the strife of its land make it include multiple types of climate. On the slopes facing strong winds.
