Anyone complaining about prices or running out of an item doesn’t really get it.Stop reading reviews and just go. It’s a great experience and you won’t be disappointed. And you’re supporting something really cool.

The best home made food that I eat in Cairo.The place has and excellent service, tasty food and friendly environment.I tried the Moroccan chicken and Rokak and both where excellent.You just need to be there on time because the dishes are finishing fast.An excellent experience and very much worth it and the prices are very good too.

This review is from my visit in December 2019.Fasahet Somaya is one of the reasons I travel. I always search blogs on local food and things to try when I travel and I found out about this place.I went on a Friday so the hours were different (19:00-21:00). I knew to arrive early in order to be seated and have food available. I arrived about 45 minutes early to make sure I found the place and explore the neighbored .The menu is in Arabic so I had no idea what I would be eating.The available dishes were explained to me. I ordered the pigeon stuffed with rice, a soup, salad, and a meat filled pastry. I was lucky enough to have a local sit at the table with me and he explained what condiments go with each dish and even gave me one of his stuffed sausages to try. Unfortunately I lost my notes on the name and description of each dish.Everything was excellent and something you couldn’t get at a tourist restaurant.It was a slow night so I was able to order a second main dish, the beef with chocolate.Now there are things to know about Fasahet Somaya. 1) Come early to get a seat, the place only seats about 20 people. 2) Food is cooked fresh daily and the menu is always different. No leftovers so they want to run out of dishes by the end of the night so expect that if you come later. 3) You must eat EVERYTHING on your plate. I ate most of the beef chocolate but it was a bit chewy so I asked for the check and was told I couldn’t leave until I finished it, so I did.Overall a great experience you should try.

I loved fasahet somaya so much, but I’m giving the place 4 stars not 5 because the prices are a little bit high comparing to other places.The food quality is so good we order (pigeons, molokhya, roqaq and shea’arya) all were good and perfectly made.The place is clean, cozy and calm.The serving food hours are from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm only.Every day is a new menu of limited items to order from.

Lovely, very homely experiences. No reservation required. I arrived at 6:40pm, 4 groups in front of me but sittings move quickly. Delicious food and reasonably priced for the very calm vibe. Different daily dishes. Recommend.

Ill start with management and staff as theyre the stars behind this successful hidden gem.. Somaya is such a friendly, outgoing auntie type, the moment you spark a conversation with her she will immediately make you feel like a family member.. and the rest of the staff are equally amazing as well..As for the food, well its the same good quality every single time, REAL home cooked food prepared daily, every day a new selection and delicious taste everytime..!! Good portions too, you will always leave with a full stomach 👌.Please call ahead to check food availability, as they prepare daily portions of dishes and they do run out by end of day, keep in mind that this is super good as there will not be any left over to be served the next day ...

Such an extremely bad experience we had that night , the restaurant opened at 7 pm & we were there before 8 pm , amazingly the food was FINISHED . This is an indicator of unprofessional management & unqualified personal to Handel the restaurant. I have already called them and they told me that all the items are available, BUT when I reached there , NOTHING was available . It is a big SCAM ,I don’t recommend this restaurant to any one due to many reasons:1- very limited seating space2- low quality concerning the cleanliness of the space3- unprofessional staff4- limited amount of food is cookedJust imagine that your order will totally depend on the previous guest order .I was really disappointed by both the staff & the atmosphere, I was not disappointed by the food since I did not tried it at all .Very limited parking space .The thing that was really annoying is that the staff was not honest by mentioning that the quantity of food was very limited .I will never go there again.

Excellent authentic Egyptian food with a healthier options and more favorable than regular one. Somia, the owner, is an amazing chef and very friendly host. She knows her customers well and treat them like a family. She is also happy to share recipes of her dishes with her customers. Her place is very small, clean, and cosy. Opens only for few hours 5-8 and usually there is a wait and food finish quickly so better be early as you can. Highly recommended.

You dont feel yourself at a restaurant I felt my self at a family place where all the customers know each other and are part of a big family headed by the owner.The food tastes really good and the quantities are good enough and reasonable. The meat is tasty 🤤For sure Ill give it another visit soon.

I didnt try all the menu but the Mahshy was good ...molokhya was terrible...the restaurant is little expensive...but over all its Good for someone who never try the real tast of Egyption food

My wife and I toured around Egypt for a month, and this was by far the best restaurant we visited. Excellent on every account. The food was cooked perfectly and had deep, rich flavors. Definitely stop here on your way through Cairo.

The food is homey and Egyptian, the staff is pleasant and quick. We had the zucchini and the pigeon and enjoyed them but its a lot to eat! Not too hard to find and very cute inside.

I had lunch with a friend in Somayas old restaurant before she moved to her new place. The food has a home-made feel and is of great quality and taste, but you have to love traditional Egyptian food to enjoy the experience.The only back-draw is that its usually on high demand you have to reserve and sometimes the waiting time to be seated can be quite long.. guess she is the victim of her own success :) and she serves only lunch during weekdays dinner is only on weekends.

One of a kind whole in the wall that serves a different set menu everyday only between 5-7pm local time. First come first serve so be there early to catch some freshly cooked authentic egyptian food. Feels like homemade grandmas cooking. I usually check their FB page to know what dish awaits me.

One of the hidden gems of Cairo. Home made Egyptian cooking, often with a twist.She usually has 4-5 dishes every evening, I usually choose two. It is a small 4 table dining room so it is usually full and sometimes has a short wait, but there is a coffee shop on the steps.It is a little expensive, but well worth it.

It is a marvelous place to make a nice moment with your freinds, the lovely chef Somaya is an extraordinary character, you feel as you know here for a while, the food is very nice, the atmosphere is very cheerful, an appointed menu evey day, you can check it from Somayas page on Facebook, four plates for evey menu, you can choose 2 or more if you are alone, 3 or more if you are 2 or up, the food is not very expensive, foreign people come to enjoy the lovely place.
